Berlin is best European city for tech start up

If you are looking to start your tech business some place in Europe and want to choose a location where your start-up has the best chance of success, you may want to consider Germany’s Berlin. Not only is Berlin known for its vibrant nightlife and its many hip museums, but all of its youth orientated activities and trendy neighbourhoods are now attracting a great deal of innovative entrepreneurs with great success as high tech start-ups are finding great success due to the presence of the many computer savvy grads that line the streets from Berlin universities.

Google invests 5m Euros in German solar power plant

Google solar power plant Berlin

Google announced that it will invest in European clean energy that will hopefully not be its only investment into the country after pledging a whopping 3.5m Euros into a new solar power plant that will be constructed in Berlin, Germany. However, Google is not the only one fronting money for the new solar project as private German equity company Capital Stage will also be pledging money to the 47 hectare facility that will be found in the Berlin suburb of Brandenburg an der Havel. The Capital Stage investment however is pending the approval German authorities.

Microsoft adds to EU’s Google probe

EU Google probe

Microsoft announced this week that they will be filing a complaint with European Union competition regulators against the search engine giant Google due to the fact that the company has been isolating data and content that other competitors need to access.  The new complaint will add to a list of others that are filed against Google from other competitors who fear the search result giant and the way it dominates the industry.

General Counsel for Microsoft Brad Smith wrote on a blog post for the company that Google continues to participate in a pattern that blocks off data and content that competitors need to access in order to offer the proper search results to their consumers and as a way to reach more advertisers.
